About Us

We are a small, full service architectural firm established in 1990, combining the architectural and graphic design skills of Patricia D. Willson, AIA, with the architecture and construction expertise of Richard D. Willson, AIA, CSI, ICBO. With a strong emphasis on service, our work includes residential, commercial, hospitality and resort architecture; specializing in design for mountain environments.

Our project types vary widely: one year’s work ranged from a 400 SF screenhouse to a 12,000 SF airplane hangar. Much of our work has a similar sense of contextual style. Many of our mountain residences share pitched roofs, deep overhangs and portals; a direct response to the issues of site and climate.

We live and work in New Mexico. The majority of our work is up north in Taos County; we also have projects in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Tijeras and Jemez Springs.

Our office is located in Albuquerque, in the University/Nob Hill area. Our home was built in 1947; a small, frame-stucco, 1,000 s.f. box. Over the years we have added on and remodeled, turning our home/office into a living laboratory–giving clients the opportunity to see certain spatial and mechanical concepts firsthand.Whether it’s a house or an airplane hangar, the money spent on the architectural fees represents a small portion of the total spent on the project.

Many of our clients are repeat clients or word-of-mouth referrals. Several clients have found us through the directory on the Not So Big House website.

If you have questions about what we can do for you, please call, write or email us.
