Rainwater Management

It seems odd to worry about too much water during these times of drought, but once every few years a heavy rain event causes flooding on our street. There is a peninsula of duplexes with streets both front and back. The storm drain on the east side is woefully undersized, so for years the water went over the curbs and flooded through all the duplex properties, washing out landscape gravel and flooding crawspaces.

After puchasing the property at the end of the block, we did extensive site work; including retaining walls, French drains and retainage ponds. The ponds fill with run-off and empty slowly, providing a deep drink for the landscape. The adjacent properties continue to suffer damage every time there is one of these rain events.
