This 2017 remodel included replacing 75 year-old wood shingles with a new metal roof. In an effort to capture and retain the rainwater on the front side of the house, a gutter and downspout leads to a French drain under the new site wall. The gabion cages are filled with rock and masonry rubble—and placed on top of a fabric wrapped gravel ‘burrito drain’ alongside the perforated pipe that continues from the downspout.
